Neahkahnie Mountain
Neah-kah-nie is a Tillamook name for "place of the fire god" or, "home of the gods." The Mountain has been the setting in several popular books such as Thomas Roger's "Beeswax and Gold" ; Sheba Hargreave's "Ward of the Redskins" ; Claire Warner Churchill's "Slave Wives of Nehalem". It has also been the setting for movies and TV commercials.
This picture was taken near the end of a summer trip. The sun was approaching the skyline when we saw a cool Porsche 911 parked on the side of the road. On the monolith, sat a young gentleman playing guitar and singing along. The winding highway, the dusk, the song, and the waves composed a unspeakable scene, which I can only record with the light and shadow.
